feel: count your stars

last week, I released my seventh song and reflection post called song: count your stars
these feel: blog posts invite you to take a moment and reflect, listen to its paired song and follow through my own exercise to explore your feelings, write them out, add some colour, visualize and breathe it through.
so i invite you to take a moment to reflect and feel too! maybe we'll discover something together or face something new and unfamiliar, let's feel together <3
In feel: count your stars, we'll be creating and reflecting on how even though life can feel like an empty dark space, there are stars that shine throughout the day and throughout the night, there are these moments, these little joys and wins that actually can light our way if we take a moment to breathe and count our stars.
just quickly, as of late, I've been feeling a little too much into that empty dark space, so this was a star experience to count my stars from the past recent weeks, even though I've been feeling so lethargic.
As always, a step-by-step follow along will be first and then if you scroll to the bottom, there will be written instructions!
If you want to check out a quick follow along video to see what's in store, check out the link here! It's a super sped up version of my process with a narrative voice over.
For the lovelies who prefer written instructions, here they are :)
Grab a pencil or pen, we are using colours this time (markers, crayons, whichever)
please have yellow and black available!
1 piece of paper, a notebook, sketchbook, anything!
softly ask and explore these questions (whether you think or jot some things)
sometimes, life can feel like an empty dark galaxy... how can you notice and count your stars today? What are the little joys, moments and wins that light the way for you?
this prompt is about recognizing that even in the depths of our darkness or hard times, that there are stars that shine throughout the day, throughout the night. This exercise invites you to take a moment to breathe and count your stars , those little joys, moments and wins that light up your space.
for this prompt, we'll be using one piece of paper (landscape orientation) and place it so it is horizontal! The long sides are the top and bottom of the page
we'll be using the colours yellow and black, to create a galaxy star piece
using black, draw a little stick-man figure in the middle of the page
along the outer edges of the space, leave lots of room in the middle, draw black hole lines that create an oval shape around
using yellow, draw as many stars to fill in that space, draw them big enough to write in them, as always, we'll be writing later on
after drawing all your stars, fill in the excess spaces with the black hole galaxy, you can make it resemble a black hole with spiral lines, going towards you, the stick figure
reflect on the prompt above and write your answers in the stars
honestly think back to today, this past week, what are the small or big things that come to your mind and make you smile or ground you a bit more, a comforting, a warmth, a wholesome moment
And with that, you have a little galaxy of stars, things that can light your way as you're navigating your dark spaces.
As noted in the last part of my infographic and even in my earlier ment, I haven't been having the greatest week or past two weeks. I think I even mentioned it in one of my blog posts, it's feeling like I'm just floating the days by. Big reference to ride your wave
And this exercise allowed me to step out of this emptier zone and realize all around me, there are stars that light up this space, I just have to take a moment to breathe and count my stars. I do try to count my stars in my weekly spreads, but I haven't been doing it consistently enough recently. So to take a good moment and actually reflect and count my stars has been very nice and reassuring, hopeful too, so I can keep on going and ground myself in those little moments.
To share a part of my answers:
in this creative prompt for my own eyes, I would've used specific names, but for my privacy and others, I was as vague as possible
some of my stars from the past week
pulling fortunes with a friend
smiles
drawing pokemon
fist bumps with my PT/chiro
a cute lego gift
this project's consistency
music and my experiences listening to music
building a puzzle
having a good workplace
a cute lego gift and bbt plushie
big hearts with the arms from friends and co-workers
I invite you to try out this prompt in the best way you show up for it! If you'd like to share your flames, comment below or in my new community space forum section!
I hope this little reflect and feel post is something you can take-away and try to do for yourself. As I experiment with this creative journey and building community, I am open to any suggestions, feedbacks or comments on the formatting or segments.
And if you reach the end of this, thank you for sharing this space with me.
Lots of love.
Take care always.
