just try is an original that holds a space for anyone that is in need of comfort, softness, affirmation, encouragement, and motivation. This piece is for anyone that feels sluggish, lost, unmotivated, a bit behind, and overwhelmed. Thank you for trying and showing up the best you can everyday. Because all I can ask you do "just try, take it one step at a time, and breathe in, breathe out".

now it's been a while since I've blogged like this, and it's also been a while since I've songwritten as well. A little over a year since my last song which was the bubble tea song, which is a personal favourite even though I've forgotten how to play it. Anyways I digress a little bit. Now, what can I say about this song and my process?

I'm going to borrow the same words that I used on my IG reel and just copy and paste it here and go from there. sooooo.

Sooo we're baccck one year later and on my birthday to sneak peek and release a new song the same week. Full song on YouTube out this week. This song in particular is a birthday gift to a dear friend whose birthday is right after mine. So happy birthday to us :)

This song evolved and was directly inspired by conversations we had earlier this month when we celebrated our birthdays early together. And in our conversations, I felt seen and heard and my idea was how can I put our encouragement, softness, motivation and more into a song. So what I'm previewing here, the chorus is the main message and take away I took from our conversations. When things get tough or not, all I can ask for you is to try. And trying can look different every day. One step at a time. Everything sounds rather cliché but sometimes you need those soft reminders. So yeah, this song is a song of encouragement, warmth and comfort to anyone whose in need of some and might be feeling lost, unmotivated or overwhelmed. I hope you enjoy "Just try" and thank you for trying and showing up every day the best you can.

Reflection question that inspired this song: What are some words or phrases you tell yourself when you're in need of encouragement, comfort or motivation? Let me know in the comments :)

For myself it's the song itself as well as more. I'll be writing a blog too so stay tuned for that and the full song release.

So my IG reel paragraph basically summarizes the song and a bit of its process. I did songwrite again for another person. A lot of my discography that I have, they're all gifts or songs written for people. How does that inform my songwriting well it allows me to personalize and put meaning into the words that I carefully choose. This song in particular, I make many different references to phrases that both the person and I have used personally.

For example, in the first verse, "And you don't know how much I have felt to be seen and heard by you" is a direct reference from a phrase we've both said and written to each other. I feel seen and heard by you, thank you. So yeah, the second verse is directly pulled from the person's answers to the reflection question that inspired this song: What are some words or phrases you tell yourself when you're in need of encouragement, comfort or motivation? The second verse is also a mix of things that I tell myself as soft reminders " your best is always enough" ,"pause, rest, you're more than enough - it's fair to take your time"

All in all, this song is really a song of hope, comfort, motivation, encouragement and acts as a huge soft reminder that even when times are hard, all we have to do is just try.

I invite you to take a moment and reflect:

What are some words or phrases you tell yourself when you're in need of encouragement, comfort, or motivation?

For myself it really is the song itself, and there are a couple of other songs that act as songs of comfort as well. Some of these phrases are direct lyrics from other songs, I'll link the songs to them below :)

  • "Again and again, I see it through, again and again I breathe it through"

  • "Your best looks different everyday"

  • "Your best is always enough"

    • From the song " Just Try" video at the top haha :)

  • Thank you for surviving and vibing.

  • Thank you for showing up the best you can.

But yeah, these are some phrases that I use personally to motivate and comfort myself when I need the little boost of encouragement!

Thank you for holding a space and thank you for reading up until here if you have.
