Happy Holiday season! We are nearing the end of 2023, and zooming straight into the holidays already. I've been rather busy with my end of semester and at work, and I definitely feel like I am at the edge of burnout, and am in need of more rest. This little art prompt, allowed me to breathe for a bit and also reflect back onto the year.
There are a lot of things I want to do to ensure that I reset and reflect in gratitude and move forward with more wisdom and intention.
Anyways, hi. last week, I released my third song and reflection post called: song: everything will be okay
I think everything will be okay, is definitely a song that is bittersweet yet hopeful in its ways.
so as we look back at the year, I hope you find space to give everything its grace, its time to bloom and wither, and acknowledge and honour its time and what it served you.
these feel: blog posts invite you to take a moment and reflect, listen to its paired song and follow through my own exercise to explore your feelings, write them out, add some colour, visualize and breathe it through.
so i invite you to take a moment to reflect and feel too! maybe we'll discover something together or face something new and unfamiliar, let's feel together <3
Everything will be okay, this space is for you too.
I'm going to be doing the same formatting, like an image infographic with steps and then I'll include the written instructions at the bottom!
If you are the type who prefers written instructions to follow along, here they are:
Grab a pencil, marker, pen, 3 colours if possible!
A piece of paper, a notebook, anything, you'll need two pieces or fold in half
softly ask and explore these questions (whether you think or jot some things)
IN 2023, SOME GOOD TIMES WERE:
_____________________________________
SOME BAD TIMES WERE:
_____________________________________
AND I DID SURVIVE AND VIBE THROUGH THEM ALL.
this prompt is about reflecting and making a list of moments from the past year
on a separate page, leave room at the top to write the prompt out later in step 6
after answering the prompt, start drawing a large circle with big petals around
these flowers should be big enough to write your moments inside of them
draw multiple flowers, some with less petals, and falling petals in the background
write the prompt out at the top of the page, choosing separate colours for GOOD TIMES and BAD TIMES, remember to write AND I DID SURVIVE AND VIBE THROUGH THEM ALL at the bottom of the page (very important, because you did!)
fill in your petals, with your good times, and bad times, alternating your chosen colours if you wish, maybe even doodle and scribble a bit too!
now you have a flower visual of the past year, with blooming and withering moments, wishing you a bountiful 2024 filled with lots of blessings and opportunities ~
With this exercise, I think the most helpful thing was, to really sit down and think about how eventful it has been, even if you don't do the flower part, just answering the prompts, affirming yourself and acknowledging the past year, is very powerful in itself.
I really do stress that writing AND I DID SURVIVE AND VIBE THROUGH THEM ALL is so impactful, because I tend to be very hard on myself and to brush off my hard work and effort, to just play it off as if it's not something worth noting.
So with this, if your year was filled with more bad moments, I hope you can let those petals go and wither away, to let new ones bloom moving forward. I hope you know that you are enough and you survived. If the one good thing, is that you survived, made it to whatever day it is today for you, thank you.
However you show up to this, is all we can ask for and all we can give. so, thank you for bringing your today best, be soft and gentle.
I am curious if any of you do try this, feel free to write a comment, share a picture if you're comfortable.
I hope this little reflect and feel post is something you can take-away and try to do for yourself. As I experiment with this creative journey and building community, I am open to any suggestions, feedbacks or comments on the formatting or segments.
And if you reach the end of this, thank you for sharing this space with me.
Lots of love.
Take care always.
