last week, I released my eighth song and reflection post called song: good ol' times

these feel: blog posts invite you to take a moment and reflect, listen to its paired song and follow through my own exercise to explore your feelings, write them out, add some colour, visualize and breathe it through.

so i invite you to take a moment to reflect and feel too!  maybe we'll discover something together or face something new and unfamiliar, let's feel together <3

I think for this week's creative prompt, I am having a hard time trying to figure out a concept to follow. And it is slightly discouraging me a bit, I am at a loss. Another thing I can imagine with a mixed media, if digital or physical, is to use actual photos and to create a collage.

We are so used to taking pictures so quickly and having it on our digital files. When was the last time you had actually looked back or arranged it in a meaningful way? I do print my photos out, and have yet to arrange it in a scrapbook.

Another idea, was to think of certain words that describe a certain friendship, or imagine them as a colour or colours. To think and reflect deeply on what that person and friendship has done for you.

Or an expressive letter? This song can be spun in different ways where you think about the memories and the nostalgia of moments. Or from those times, think of the person and their traits, qualities, the quirks and all the wholesome things.

Another thing that weighs is how could I translate this to an art medium, or will it mainly just be words? Out of privacy disclosure, I don't want to show any pictures, although I feel like it would be fun to look back.

I'm still on the idea of writing memories out or qualities and compliments, sending lots of love and gratitude to the friendship, and hopefully sharing it with the person.

Something significant within the recent years is us completing a 1000 piece puzzle and 500 piece puzzle. And I really want to theme it to the shapes of puzzle pieces.

It is two days later, and I decided to follow through with the idea of using puzzle shapes as the creative prompt because I found a really cute puzzle quotes like the below:

So :) this was cute and I was having a really good time preparing this creative prompt and doing the exercise, until I accidentally deleted all my footage of doing it. BUT luckily, I did take video screenshots before trying to edit the recording's orientation. So although a shame, I still can create the infographic step-by-steps, the follow along reel will just not have the full process.

For the lovelies who prefer written instructions, here they are!

  • Grab a pencil or pen, we are using colours this time (markers, crayons, whichever)

  • any colours of your choice

  • Also a ruler or square shaped item

  • 1 piece of papers, a notebook, anything,

  • softly ask and explore these questions (whether you journal your answers or just think)

is there anyone you can think of who you'd like to cherish and say:

thank you for being an important piece of my life
and sharing all of these good ol' times

  1. this prompt is asking us to celebrate and cherish good ol' times that we've had with someone, and we'll be creating puzzle pieces of memories, small things, and pictures that remind you of that person

  2. we'll be using one piece of paper, and using it landscape orientation (horizontally, long sides on the top and bottom)

  3. with a ruler or square shape, create multiple even boxes on your page, with these boxes leave a large gap in the middle of each edge, this will give us space to draw the connecting circle bits

  4. draw your connecting inner or outer half circles for each side of the box, another way to imagine it is as c's or rainbow lines

  5. with a black marker or the same pen, outline your puzzle pieces to make them bolder

  6. if you haven't chosen a person yet, take a moment to think is there anyone that come to mind that you would like to say thank you for being an important piece of my life and sharing these good ol' times

  7. Reflect on your good ol' times or things that remind you of that person, we'll be designing puzzle pieces based on those things - you could design pieces with your both favourite colours - fill the pieces with colour and then write over with memories - or draw small drawings of memories or things you both like

  8. LASTLY write in one puzzle piece thank you for being an important piece of my life

And with that, a puzzle filled with good ol' times :)

This exercise may take a while depending on how much you design and write, and honestly it's a wonderful kind of collage of memories to celebrate a significant relationship. My hopes is that you can look back at it and also share it with the person too.

I invite you to try out this prompt in the best way you show up for it! If you'd like to share your flames, comment below or in my new community space forum section!

I hope this little reflect and feel post is something you can take-away and try to do for yourself. As I experiment with this creative journey and building community, I am open to any suggestions, feedbacks or comments on the formatting or segments.

And if you reach the end of this, thank you for sharing this space with me.

Lots of love.

Take care always.
